It’s been gloomy and rainy for what feels like days and days here. If we were freezing in January, we are now walking in puddles in February. It looks like it’s going to get better starting tomorrow so here’s to that. Nevertheless we’ve been keeping busy at home, trying not to get affected by the gloominess outside.
Today, I wanted to share some of Lev’s favorite toys that aren’t cars haha. Obviously if there was a scale, there would be cars and trains and then nothing for a very long time and then these but for the sake of trying to get him to sit still for a few minutes these work really well. They are Montessori inspired, which I really like as they’re simple but really help encourage his concentration. What’s nice about introducing some Montessori activities into your children’s lives is that they don’t necessarily require expensive toys or materials as you can figure out solutions that you already have at home. I really like this blog and am thinking about creating a geoboard for Lev and Lara.
Personally, I find that some ready-made Montessori materials and toys that are available in stores can be extremely costly so if I’m looking for something in particular I’ll always browse around the web to find better deals. I also took really good of all such toys when Lara was little and we were able to reintroduce them with Lev and hopefully we’ll be able to pass them on to someone else after that. (unless Chandler chews his way through our apartment first haha)
THIS COLOR SORTING GAME IS HIS ABSOLUTE FAVORITE. SOMETIMES, TO SWITCH THINGS UP AND USE HIS FAVORITE TOY I’LL PUT COLOR CARDS ON THE FLOOR AND HE’LL COLOR COORDINATE HIS CARS INSTEAD. THAT WAY WE CAN INTRODUCE HIS ALL TIME FAVORITE TOYS LOL.
I FOUND THIS HAPE SHADOW GAME RECENTLY ON SALE AND IT’S BEEN A HUGE HIT. IT SAYS 4Y+ ON THE BOX BUT I THINK IT’S COMPLETELY SUITABLE FOR KIDS LEV’S AGE.
THE BOOK IS ANOTHER FAVORITE BECAUSE IT INCLUDES THE DOG, DUUUH. IT’S FROM THE SERIES BEBE BALTHAZAR, WHICH IS INSPIRED BY MONTESSORI.
THIS IS ACTUALLY A WALDORF STAR CRAFT THAT WE DID THE OTHER DAY. IT WAS SUCH AN EASY CRAFT LARA DID WITH HER FRIEND, BUT LEV WAS ABLE TO PARTICIPATE AS WELL. FIND THE TUTORIAL HERE. I GOT THIS TRANSPARENT PAPER BUT IT WAS A LITTLE HARD. SOMETHING A LITTLE MORE SOFT MIGHT BE BETTER.
Do you have any toys or activities you would recommend? I’d love to hear them.
WE TIDY UP THIS ROOM AT LEAST 3X A DAY AND STILL THIS IS ITS NATURAL STATE APPARENTLY HAHA
Our little Bam Bam is in that stage when he’s truly testing his and our limits, learning the power of the word “No”, pouting and other fun things that come with being two and a half years old. I’m completely … Continue reading »
